The OeAD-Housing Office decided to adopt the passive house standards for building halls of residence. Six of these projects have already been realized and this allows 3000 students per year from all over the globe to live in a passive house during their time at university. With this initiative, the OeAD-Housing Office emphasizes Austria’s leading role in relation to eco-friendly building and seeks to share knowledge with their international students and thus carry the basic ideas of eco-friendly building out into the world. The OeAD-Housing Office cooperates with its parent company OeAD-GmbH as well as various Austrian student residences and partner universities worldwide. Accommodating international students in a guesthouse in compliance with passive house standards is possible in any climatic zone.
